 Free MP3 audio podcast guides to a personal selection of the world's best and most interesting restaurants.
First of all … if you’re one of those people who wants linen napkins so crisp you could cut your hand… or you like all that tomfoolery with silver cloches being lifted off in unison … then don’t bother taking my advice.
But if you like the finest or heartiest food, but often in an informal dining room … somewhere where they won’t scowl at you if you have a glass or two more wine than strictly necessary then read on .
Over the years I’ve eaten some brilliant meals … river shrimps at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge deep in Borneo; exquisite gingery, caramelised pork at the Canne a Sucre on Guadeloupe; hearty slow-cooked roasts for four at London’s Anchor and Hope. Sadly not all of them got recorded. Some even got deleted under the influence.
All these restaurants are just a tiny proportion of the great places I’ve eaten. It’s only in the last couple of years that I’ve really been recording enough restaurant interviews to make this page worthwhile … so if … and it’s a giant IF … you have the equipment to make and edit the occasional restaurant review … or hotel review then email them to me !
Any rubbish … like the freelance journalist I once commissioned to get me restaurant coverage in Chicago … and who came back with a review of a Denny’s … then I’ll delete it instantly. But let’s give this a try. Minidisc recorders and microphones don’t cost much … there are editing programmes bundled-up in most computers. Just don’t send me weirdo junk !
